Our world-class facilities include everything from swimming pools, championship-quality tennis courts and spacious gyms, to luxury spas, kids' activity and soft play areas, and state-of-the-art studios for boutique fitness classes.

This is woven into the fabric of our business, from taking clear steps to move to carbon net zero by 2030 to empowering Clubs to support their local charities. We aim to always do the right thing by our members, our team and the communities we’re part of.
Our team
The people who work at our Clubs are a huge part of what makes them special. We work hard to provide a welcoming, open and safe culture for everyone - from our life guards, personal trainers and instructors to our crèche supervisors, chefs and receptionists.
We give each and every one of our people a voice though regular engagement surveys and listening sessions. We’ve created an online platform to keep everyone connected, wherever they’re based. And we’ve launched six Inclusion Resource Groups to help us become an even more diverse and inclusive place to work. We want everyone to know they belong at David Lloyd Clubs.

Our Clubs in Europe
Our history
We were founded back in 1982 by David Lloyd, a former professional tennis player. He set out with a single vision: to create a high-quality fitness destination that all the family could enjoy.
Our very first Club was opened in David Lloyd Heston – a Club which is still open and operating today. By 1995, we’d grown to 18 Clubs. And now in 2026, we have 139 Clubs across the UK and mainland Europe.
Over the years we've evolved into Europe's leading health and wellness group, all while staying true to the original vision of being a place for the whole family.
Awards and Accreditations
We’re the first health and fitness operator to be awarded the new FITcert® certification for management, operations, health and safety, fitness trainer qualifications, as well as club supervision requirements.
All new clubs will be built with a focus on sustainability including the installation of solar panels and energy efficient technology. These efforts are part of our target to become net zero by 2030, as aligned to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI).
As we continue to grow, we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment. We are proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved David Lloyd Clubs' science-based emissions reduction targets and verified our net-zero science-based target by 2030.
